Welcome to Trevor Day School

For 95 years, Trevor Day School has offered an innovative independent school education in the heart of Manhattan. At Trevor, ambitious academics, engaged students, and balanced lives thrive in every classroom, at every grade level, and around every corner. It’s how we teach, how we learn, and how we prepare students for meaningful, fulfilling lives.

Trevor enrolls students from all five boroughs of NYC, the tri-state area, and international students. We cultivate an environment that reflects our multicultural and socioeconomically diverse city, and which enriches a wide range of talented students who experience the world from myriad viewpoints. For each of our students, Trevor is something unique—but for all, it is a launch pad for a lifelong love of learning.

    www.ravenna-hub.com.

Once an application is submitted through Ravenna, dates will be available for self-registration for the in-person child visit and a parent meeting. Families also have the option of attending one of our tours prior to completing the application.

Admissions decisions will be posted in your Ravenna account on the dates listed in the timeline above.
  • Age Requirements

When creating a class, we carefully consider the many dimensions of a balanced early learning or elementary classroom—including students’ personality, diversity, development, and age range. We give close attention to each child’s development as well as the class configuration. Birthday requirements are listed below.

    Threes applicants:
Applicants for Threes must be 2.10 by August 31st of the year they hope to enter Trevor.

    Pre-Kindergarten applicants:
Applicants for Pre-K must turn four by September 1st of the year they hope to enter Trevor.

    Kindergarten applicants:
Applicants for Kindergarten must turn five by September 1st of the year they hope to enter Trevor.

    Grades 1 through 5 applicants:
Applicants for Grades 1 through 5 may contact our office to discuss appropriate placement.
  • Adult Meeting & Child Visit

    Adult Meeting
This 30-minute conversation with a member of our Admissions team helps us to get to know your family and child. It's also an opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have about Trevor. We suggest that you tour and explore our website prior to the meeting. For families with applicant siblings, only one Adult Meeting is necessary.

You will be able to schedule this appointment through Ravenna after submitting the application and can choose either a virtual or in-person meeting. Please choose the option that suits your family best—both hold the same value in our process.

    Child Visit
    Threes
Each Threes applicant will participate in a small group session that mimics an Early Childhood class. Through stories, songs, and play, the Admissions Team will get to know your child. Caregivers are encouraged to stay in the room and will be provided with a seating area to observe. These visits will begin later in the season as extra months are important in a young child's development.

    Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grade 1:
Each applicant will participate in a small group session with the Trevor Admissions team for approximately 50–60 minutes. These visits are an opportunity to observe your child in a peer setting and to get to know them through developmentally appropriate tasks and games. Caregivers are requested to stay in our waiting lounge during your child’s visit.

    Grades 2‒5:
Grades 2–5 are attrition-based entry points. We encourage families to submit their applications by December 1, 2025. If we anticipate an opening in the grade for which you are applying, we will schedule a child visit and tour/parent meeting. To tour prior to applying, please see our ‘Opportunities to Visit’ on Ravenna for grade-appropriate events.
  • Opportunities to Visit

To register for an event visit www.ravenna-hub.com. After creating your account, locate Trevor in the directory of New York Schools and click on “upcoming events.”

    Trevor Together Tours:
Join us to tour our Upper East Side Middle & Upper School and our Upper West Side Lower School and to learn how we seamlessly connect curriculum and community. This event begins with a brief tour of our East Campus followed by a ride on the Trevor Shuttle. The event concludes at our West Campus with a tour of the Lower School. This tour lasts approximately two hours and fifteen minutes.

    Trevor Lower School Community Spotlight:
This evening includes panel discussions with Trevor community members and a “meet and greet” spotlighting several of our signature programs. We look forward to sharing highlights of our dynamic curriculum and providing you with valuable insight into what a Trevor future holds!

While not required, the Lower School Community Spotlight is a wonderful way to get to know us further.
